Suggest Treatment For Low Hemoglobin Level During Pregnancy
I am 36 years old and 19 weeks pregnant experiencing faintness, dizziness and fatigue. After a couple of fainting spells last month, I had my hemoglobin tested and the result was 118. My midwife said that I would not be able to have a home delivery if it got any lower than 115 so I am anxious to see it improve. I have tried making changes in my diet, eating more red meat, beets, spinach, broccoli and combining with vitamin C and not dairy but now I'm wondering if a liquid iron formula is perhaps necessary. Any suggestions? Is 118 too low for this early in my pregnancy?
Thanks for asking in healthcaremagic forum Yes, Low heamoglobin levels can cause you all the symptoms which you have mentioned above and it is very risky to undergo home delivery in these kind of situations with risk factors. Usually Iron, Folic acid and Calcium supplements are used in pregnancy to prevent anaemia and other complications. Haemoglobin is measured in gm/decilitre and normal range for women is 12-16 gm/dl. So, please resend your report details for further suggestions. All the best & will be waiting for your details.
