Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 32 year old B?/F. 5 5 186lbs. In MVA suffered head contusion lower back and neck pain. I dont understand MRI report. It states as follows: No aggressive marrow signal abnormality seen, Dehydration of the L4-L5 disc. Conus tipis at level of L2 At T1-12,L1-L-2, L2-L3 and L3-L4 no bulge or prtrusionseen. At L4-L-5, there is central left paracentral protrusion anteriorly slightly effacing the thecal sac. There is no AP canal stenosis. There is mild left foraminal encroachment at L5-S-1, no bulge or protrusion seen. Impression: Paracentral protrusion of anterior L4-L5 with left foraminal encroachment! What does it all mean? Do I have a herniated or bulging disc that may require surgery or what?

Suggest Treatment For Lower Back And Neck Pain
Hello, As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief. The pain is due to bulging and degeneration of the disc and subsequent nerve compression. Most cases improve with conservative management. If symptoms are severe, you can opt for a steroid injection. Consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
