Suggest Treatment For Lump Behind Throat Causing Itching And Swelling

My daughter has a lump on the back of her throat. She was really sick a week ago and had an antibiotic. It wasn t regular strep. They didn t know what to call it. Her throat is now itchy with large bumps causing swelling in the throat. They prescribed another antibiotic. Could it be an STD? She said they are checking.

There are different types of sexually transmitted infections, most cause symptoms related to the genital tract though some can cause symptoms in other areas of the body.

This means that though it may be related to an STD, it is more likely related to another bacterial infection.

The investigations should be able to identify the specific bacteria causing the problem.
