Suggest Treatment For Lump Between Right Shoulder Blade And Spine

I have had a lump between my right shoulder blade and spine for about a year now. Very tender to the touch, and it swells to the point of being noticeable through my shirt. My DC seems to think it is fluid filled, but MRIs have have no mention of this lump in radiologist reports. 2 days ago, it started swelling again to the point of not having full range of motion in my right arm, and a strong burning sensation down my spine. Previous visits to my GP have resulted in its just a knotted muscle and diazepam and ketrolac prescriptions that do not remedy the problem.

Hello,

You are suffering from a lump on the right shoulder blade and spine. You are unable to make a full range of your arm movement. You are also experiencing burning sensation down your spine. It is indicative that the lump is affecting the nerve, it can be nerve impingement or even damage.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by an oncologist. Diagnosing shoulder blade pain is complicated. It may involve a lot of history of the past and present illness, blood tests, routine cardiac tests, imaging tests & physical examination. Shoulder lumps can be from bones, joints, or muscles. It can be indicative of heart, lung, lymphomas, or chest-wall problems. Sometimes, abdominal or pelvic conditions or certain cancers may also present with such symptoms.

Muscle strain may cause pain between shoulder blades and often results from poor posture, heavy lifting, and activities that require twisting motions, like golf or tennis. Trauma like joint separations, shoulder separations and rotator cuff tears can cause pain in the area affected. You may require to get X-ray, CT or repeat MRI if required to be done. The swelling will be tested for any fluid in it, for biopsy or HPE. You will be treated accordingly.

In the meantime, do not unnecessarily try to move your arms as it may trigger more pain. You can take NSAIDS, Naproxen or Combiflam, one SOS when required to bear with pain. Get clinically examined by a Neurologist, to assess the degree of nerve damage. You can take food rich in vitamin B6, B12, folic acid or you can also take supplements. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
