I am female, 61 yrs. old and had complete hysterectomy 5 yrs. ago. I have no symptoms or pain in pelvic area, yet when I went for physical, doctor did a pelvic exam and thought he felt something and now wants me to get an ultrasound. What could he have felt? He also said I could wait 6 months and then have the ultrasound done. Should I wait or have it done now?
Lump in pelvic area may be due to many causes like pelvic pathology, genitourinary, intestinal problem etc. Since you have history of hysterectomy,it is important to know whether ovaries are removed or not. It may be due to adnexal pathology. However other causes should also be excluded. I suggest for immediate ultrasound. It is very important in screening. It can exclude many causes. CT scan of abdomen and further investigations can be done after evaluation.
