Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 15 year old daughter has soft flat lump about the size of a dime above her right collar bone. It s been there approximately 5 months and has not changed in size and does not hurt. And has no other symptoms. Approximately 1 year ago she had mono. Please help. Thank you!
Can you move the lump freely over the clavicle? How does it to feel, soft, firm or hard like bone? What is the exact location- on, or, below collar bone?
Lump that is soft-firm to touch and moving freely apart from collar bone usually indicates swelling from an enlarged lymph node- if this is painless, and less than 1cm in size, need not worry, just watch for increasing size. Other less common lumps here are a dermoid cyst or lipoma.
If it is a true bony lump which will be hard to touch, and cant be moved apart from clavicle need to be evaluated with an X-ray to rule out any bone tumor. Your doctor will guide you.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
