Suggest Treatment For Lump On Tip Of Tongue

I have a lump on the tip of my tongue, it appears slightly reddish. Doesn't hurt at all unless I mess with it. I've had a cold/flu the past 5 days and this lump has been there the past couple days. I do chew tobacco but this lump is new to me. Is it just caused by my cold or flu somehow or do you think it could be something more?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain a lump can be a canker sore or an apthous ulcer which may or may not be caused due to any underlying pathology..

It can also be a viral infection caused by Herpes Simplex Virus leading to formation of cold sores..
At times cold and flu seems associated with cold sores but it is not a necessary finding..

It can also be due to accidental biting of tongue leading to formation of a traumatic ulcer..

In case of apthous ulcer it will get healed mostly by itself and does not require treatment..
Warm saline gargles can help..

In case of cold sore antiviral oral and topical medication like Acyclovir can help in preventing outbursts..

In case of traumatic ulcer also healing takes place itself gradually..

In case if the lump does not heal and is persistent for long consult a dentist and get clinically evaluated..

Hope this information helps..
