Hi I have been sick with chronic lyme for about four years now. I'm still having symptoms of chest pain, nightmares, fatigue, joint pain, heavy limbs, anxiety, depression, SOB. I have been on many doses of abx. I just don't know where to go from here...
Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Praveen G's Response
Hello, Welcome to HCM,
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted by a tick and it is caused by a bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi
Lyme disease can be effectively treated with antibiotics. Antibiotics, such as doxycycline or amoxicillin should be taken orally for 14 to 21 day.
Intravenous (IV) antibiotics may be used for more serious cases and for someone whose nervous system has been affected. The IV antibiotics should be taken for 2- 3 weeks. Thank you.
