Suggest Treatment For Memory Issues In An Elderly Person

My former husband is 73 years old, and our adult children are concerned with his sudden onset of memory problems. He has both short-term and long-term memory issues. While he was visiting our son, he took a walk with him but couldn t remember where his house was on the way back. He visits our son several times a year, and the neighborhood is small and the walks are short. He will mention a name, but can t remember why he knows it. When told, he remains confused and can t connect the dots. He s taught at the same college for 7 years, but can t remember where buildings are located and has to call a friend to get the proper direction. These signs/symptoms started suddenly over the summer. We are all baffled.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The progressive memory issues at 73 years age can be most likely related to Alzheimer`s disease in usual cases.

However, a detailed physical examination and neurological evaluation is must for the final diagnosis and cure accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
