Suggest Treatment For Migraine Headache And Dizziness

I am a healthy 55yo woman with normal BP(120/75), with h/o migraine HAs that have lessened in intensity/frequency since menopause. Over the weekend, I experienced dizziness-Sat I had 2 brief episodes with sudden movements reaching down, both of which resolved within minutes. Yesterday, however, I woke up dizzy, and remained so all day. I did not have trouble with room spinning, but just a sense of off-balance, and listing to the L when I walked. I woke up this morning, and dizziness is gone, still had HA, but this was mild. I m wondering what may be going on. Susan

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM,

Understanding your concern .As per your query your wife has severe migraine headache , which is not getting better with treatment . Well there can be many reasons responsible for migraine like hormonal changes , fluctuations in estrogen seem to trigger headaches , foods , aged cheeses, salty foods and caffeinated product . If you didn't use preventive treatment for migraine headaches, three drug classes used for this purpose are with doctor may prescription antidepressants , antiepileptics and calcium channel blockers . If preventive treatment together with acute phase treatment fail to improve symptoms, Botox injections in scalp could be tried as an effective long lasting symptoms treatment. Severe migraine can also be treated by the use of ergot alkaloid drugs. These drugs need to be taken under the supervision of your doctor. Hence please do consult neurologist for prescription of drugs.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
