Hello:

Migraine is a chronic disease with a genetic component. It is a part of you, so we can control it, but we can eliminate it. Sometimes it can be controlled until you have no attacks. To do that, we use different kinds of drugs. Some of them for the acute attacks, triptans are the right ones for this. You can try zolmitriptan, eletriptan, among others. That could help to reduce the pain quickly (
At the same time, we use prophylactic medications as topiramate, amitryptiline, propranolol, magnesium, riboflavin, candesartan or melatonin. Those could help to reduce the frequency and intensity of the attacks.

If you are having more than 15 pain days per month, maybe you will need botulinum toxin injection to reduce the complaints.

You need to do some non-pharmacological actions: identify and avoid triggers (common triggers are fasting, heat, alcohol, cured meat, and smoked fishes, aged cheeses, some odors like gasoline or cigarette smoke), avoid sleep deprivation and dehydration. I suggest doing some exercise; avoid heat or direct sunlight to the head (use a hat or umbrella). And try consulting with a neurologist for a complete assessment.

I hope this helps, if you have any doubt before your appointment, please let me know.
