Suggest Treatment For Mild Injury To Chest Of An Infant
My 9week old baby was laying on his play mat in the floor in front of my couch were I had been sitting, I got up to get my two year a drink and he climbed over the side of the couch to my seat. When I told him to come get his drink he decides to get down the right way and stepped right on my baby s chest. (Right about the chest/abdomen area were your perform CPR) It took about 15 minutes to get him claimed down. I have felt all his ribs and looked for any bruising and can t find anything wrong. What all do I need to keep an eye on? He is sleeping now and seems to be breathing fine.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Baby comfortably sleeping suggests no much harm done but, chest being a delicate part of body holding vital organs, I would suggest a through examination and imaging investigation if advised. Just to exclude any serious after effects of the accident. Till then observe him for any breathing trouble, colour of skin (lips, nails) and crying indicative of bony injury.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
