Suggest Treatment For Mild Sore Throat, Chills And Fever
I had a cold/flu a few weeks ago and thought I was over it. Now, suddenly, I am coughing severely, the middle of my back hurts, headache when I cough, slight sore throat, chills and possible fever. Could this be pneumonia? Or just a relaps of a cold/flu?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of mild sore throat, chills and fever which seems to be due to viral pharyngitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles and take steam thrice a day . You should consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order throat swab test and blood test to confirm the diagnosis and rule out strep throat, pneumonia and other systemic pathology. Doctor may prescribe antiviral drugs (acyclovir) and antibacterial ( amoxicillin ) if it is coinfection. Avoid taking spicy and sharp food. Avoid cold carbonated beverages.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
