Suggest Treatment For Minor Epilepsy And Tingling Feeling In Stomach

I have episodes that my doctor believes is minor epilepsy. I have them almost 1 or more a day. They last about 1-4 minutes and I never lose consciousness I just feel tingly in stomach and head and can not carry on a conversation often not knowing words or stumbling through not being understood. I think I m saying the right things but people cannot understand my speech. Could this be a stroke (I am 54 and weigh 215 pounds) rather than epilepsy and how do I convince my doctor to run the tests for a stroke?

Hello,

Your symptoms point towards the following conditions:
1) Transient ischemic attack or mini stroke
2) Absence seizures
3) Migraine variants
4) ADHD
5) Confusional states and acute memory disorders
6) Complex partial seizures

You can discuss the above mentioned causes with your neuro-physician and have a MRI brain done. Then we can point at a specific diagnosis and initiate an appropriate treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
