Suggest Treatment For Missed Periods For Years Together
I am 22 years old and haven t had a period in 5 years. The first 2 years of the 5 I spotted maybe once or twice a year but nothing more. The past 6 months i started getting random bad cramps with nothing to follow and then out of no where I got violently sick the room started spinning and I got hot and cold sweats I lost coordination and couldn t stand. After that I was nauseous and throwing up every morning for 5 days then it all just went away. I m worried things are just going to get worse. What should I do or who should I go see.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Absence of menses for 6 months or more constitutes 'secondary amenorrhea'. Not having menses for about 5 years could be a serious concern. Secondary amenorrhea is a symptom that can be caused by many pathological states. The causes could be: Over-active thyroid gland and Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). It could be also due to tumours of pituitary gland. Kindly get the following tests done: 1. Serum levels of FSH, LH and Prolactin (Fertility profile). 2. Serum Free T3, Free T4 and TSH (Thyroid profile). Kindly consult Gynecologist with the report for evaluation of the cause and its management accordingly. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
