ok so two years ago I got a piece of chicken stuck in my esophagus which then started causing esophagus spasms well after a year that cleared up and then about 3 weeks ago I swallowed a piece of bacon that didn t go down properly and ever since then I feel like something is stuck in my throat the doctor did a barium swallow and didn t see anything but started me on nexium anyway and today I am having trouble breathing and like my esophagus is full of mucus any suggestions??
Hello
You are having GERD/ Gastro-esophageal reflux disease. This causes as if there a lump in the throat. Barium swallow is quite a good investigation to see upper digestive tract foreign bodies. Mucus coming up the throat is also a feature of GERD.
Your doctor is right in prescribing Nexium, please take it for few weeks. Please consider taking domperidon 10mg twice daily for a week before food.
Formulate a diet plan. Stop oily or greasy food, cheese, vinegar. Reduce coffee, tea. Avoid lying flat immediately after a meal. Avoid heavy meals. Avoid alcohol and carbonated drinks if you are consuming. Let me know how you recover.
