I have several symptoms that may not be related to each other. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto s Disease about 15 yrs ago. Suddenly, about 5 or 6 mos or so ago, I had to switch to generic Levoxyl because the drug company ceased to make it any longer around. Since that time, I ve put on over 25lbs. (I m 59 yrs old and until now I ve weighed 110-115lbs since junior high school) I usually ride my horse 5 days a week- up to 20 miles in one day. I live to ride my horse! I get up early every morning to ride and I even get dressed and packed up to ride some days- then, I just sit with no energy. This is incredibly atypical and scary for me. All of my joints suddenly just ache. I have a congestion of some sort in my lungs and, although I don t cough daily, when I do cough- it s a deep cough that wheezes, squeaks. gurgles and leaves me gasping. My husband described it as sounding like when I had pneumonia a few years ago. Then, I ve suddenly started having some difficulty breathing when I lay down. I can breathe- but it is harder and feels like I can t get enough air. I had an infection in my heart sac almost 11 yrs ago and still have to carry a card that reads NEEDS PROTECTION FROM BACTERIAL ENDOCARDITIS BECAUSE OF AN EXISTING HEART CONDITION DIAGNOSIS: PMUS with MR - dated 2/3/04 I also just had my hip repaired ( (11/13) from a disastrous hip revision surgery & trochanter fracture repair (8/2010) of my incredibly successful full left hip replacement (8/95). The revision left me with a staffawanaria (sp?) infection and my latest repair at the Hospital for Special Surgeries in NYC just revealed I also had a second staff infection which mimics MRSA. Luckily, despite being unable to remove my old prosthesis because it would required fracturing my femur to remove, 8 wks of infusion treatments, which ended in January 2014, my last blood draw in May showed my infection levels were even lower than normal at .08. I need to know what the heck is going on with my body and what kind of doctor to see. This extra weight is really putting stress on my irreparable broken trochanter and is really increasing my stupid and annoying pain levels which had dropped on scale from a 10 to about a 2 post surgery after my recent surgery.
