Suggest Treatment For Multiple Ovarian Cysts

Hi Dr. Rynne, I had an abortion 3 years ago but I did not consult a doctor. I was too young back then so i was afraid that my parents would know. But now that I am married and we were trying to get pregnant, I am having a really hard time. I had my check up and was found on my ultrasound that I have several cysts on my ovary. Is it necessary for me to undergo Dilation and Curettage? Thank you, Charlene

Hi,

If retained products of contraception had remained those would have caused significant clinical symptoms or troubles by now and seems less likely that last abortion has contributed to your infertility. Dilatation and curettage is usually done in those cases. The cause of infertility can be ovarian cysts which again will not be due to the abortion you had but can be due to polycystic ovarian disease. In that case laproscopic removal of the cyst may be needed. Hormonal profile and detailed gynecologist review is recommended.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
