Suggest Treatment For Muscle Cramps

Hello, My boyfriend has severe neropothy and has been getting muscle cramps that are so intense that you can physically see the muscle jumping. We have tried using a heating pad, ice pack and rubbing the leg and back down with thera-gesic. What can we do to relieve the pain?
