1. since you are a diagnosed case, [thus your doctor must have ruled out other conditions that affect muscles e.g: hypothyroidism, lupus, scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, toxin exposure, drug reactions, and genetic disorders), thus 'myositis' is an autoimmune disease which causes inflammation of its own healthy muscle tissues, resulting in progressive weakness of muscles. [hopefully relevant investigations like CK enzyme test, EMG [electromyelography] and MRI has been conducted to identify the pattern and inflammation of the muscles concerned]

2. Weakness in different muscles group have different outcome, such as:
i. weakness of the hips and shoulders muscles: difficulty getting up from a chair, combing hair, or climbing stairs, too tired to walk or stand.
ii. weakness of muscles in the front of the neck and throat: hard to speak or swallow (dysphagia).
iii. when it affects the lungs or chest muscles, you may have trouble breathing.

3. only infectious myositis and drug-induced myositis are preventable. To help prevent these illnesses:

. get a flu shot each year, thoroughly cook meat, injection site should be clean [if any prescription drug is injected], routine blood tests to look for drug-induced muscle injury may be helpful as well.

4. Although there is no cure for myositis, prompt and aggressive treatment to reduce inflammation can help prevent muscle weakness from progressing and might help restore muscle strength.

5. Regular stretching exercises can help maintain range of motion in weakened arms and legs. Physical therapy may also help prevent permanent muscle shortening, you may add whirlpool baths, heat and gentle massage.
. Getting enough rest is an important component of managing myositis. Take frequent breaks during the day and limit your activity.
. In Ayurveda, as the condition is autoimmune and inflammatory, thus Immunomodualtion [Rasayan Chikitsa] and Shothahar Chikitsa [anti inflammatory] is given, you can consult an experienced Ayurveda physician near your city [google search] for better management of the disease [since I'm not familiar with the hospital/physicians there] or you can ask me for direct query on this platform by visiting: bit.ly/drmunishsood
