Suggest Treatment For Nasal Congestion, Cough And Runny Nose

My 11mos old baby has G6PD and has cold/flu symptoms with nasal congestion, cough, and runny nose. I found a Self Care medicine with active ingredients; Chlorpheniramine Maleate B.P. 1.0 mg, and Phenylephrine Hydroclordie B.P. 2.5 mg. Is it safe for him?

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have nasal congestion, cough and runny nose which is due to upper respiratory tract infection and common cold. The symptoms can also cause by air bourne allergy or from food allergy . I would suggest you to take few preventive measures such as you should take cough expectorants. You should take anti inflammatory medication such as Levocetrizine. You should use throat lozenges and go rinses with warm saline water. You should Chew a Vitamin C pellet. Take decongestants and mucolytic agents. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. Take diet rich in vitamin B12. You should take antibiotics such as Levofloxacin or Azithromycin for 5-7 days. You should get blood test and swab test done. Keep youself in moist environment and avoid dust. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined by ordering throat swab test and CT scan to rule out sinusitis.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
