Suggest Treatment For Nasal Congestion, Throat Pain And Swollen Glands

Had a diagnosed viral infection 5 weeks ago. Nasal congestion, throat, aches. Symptoms have recurred 4 times now, the current episode has slightly aching chest, sore throat (glands swollen roof of back throat) and left side ear ache. Viral or should I seek antibiotic treatment?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that along with viral infection there is superseded bacterial infection and along with throat infection there is also infection in ear as there is a direct communication between ear and throat via Eustachian tube..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and can also advise you investigations like Throat swab culture, chest x ray etc..
The physician can advise you antibiotics like Augmentin or Azithromycin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestants like Phenylephrine,warm saline, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
Chew Vitamin C pellets and suck throat lozenges..
For ear ache along with oral antibiotics, antibiotic ear drops like Gentamycin can help..
