Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
The brief history you have described suggestive of enlarged
adenoids. It is quite common in children and most of them shrink by the age of fifteen. If it causes significant problems it has to be removed by simple surgical procedure.
I suggest you to consult an
ENT specialist and get the following things done:-
1.A detailed evaluation to confirm the diagnosis and to rule out associated
tonsillitis.
2.A short course of antibiotic therapy for five to seven days may be needed.
3.Antihistamines and nasal decongestants for symptomatic relief.
4.Nebulization may be needed in case of
respiratory distress.
If your son has recurrent attacks of infection or distress, surgery is the best possible treatment. If he can tolerate the symptoms we can wait for spontaneous regression.
Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
