Suggest Treatment For Nausea And Loss Of Appetite When WBC Count Is 4.2

I m 74 years old and have been in good health all my life. I had a physical last week, including a blood test. y white blood count was 4.2 which led my doctor to refer me to a blood specialist (appointment in 3 weeks). Two days after the blood test, I felt extremely tired, lost my appetite and had minor nausea. That lasted for three days, at which time all went back to normal. I feel fine, have normal energy, and am not tired. Might my low WBC be related to whatever bothered me for those three days and not be something serious? I m very worried about the low WBC being something extremely serious, as it will be too late for me to change health insurance plans after my appointment.

Hello,

Lower WBC count can be due to a number of things and I must say do not think of extreme possibilities and engage yourself into too much of worrying. Your doctor has referred you to hematologist for further necessary tests to find out exact reason behind it.

The symptoms of tiredness, nausea, loss of appetite are commonly seen in any kind of illness at this age group. So rather than panicking, I would suggest you keep your diet healthy and mind fresh by meditation till your visit to the hematologist. Do not overthink. If you feel anxious talk to family and also to your doctor and get your doubts cleared as your current doctor has all other blood test results and he can guide you best on it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
