Suggest Treatment For Nausea, Back Pain, Tiredness And Lightheaded Feeling

Hi there. 2 weeks ago my 16 month old daughter developed the vomiting and gastro bug then few days after that my 9 year old daughter got it too. Then 3 days after that I seemed to get it too. Now a week later I am still feeling nauseous and have back pain on my left side about half way. I feel really tired and light headed at times. I seem to have a constant headache. Just wondering if I could still have a bug or could there be something else going on?

Hello,

Your symptoms are indicative of gastroenteritis (stomach flu). You are suggested to stay at rest, take break from work. Take antiemetics to stop the symptoms of nausea. Take sips of water whole day so that you are not dehydrated. Dehydration, hypoglycemia, low blood pressure, low calcium-potassium level causes light headedness and tiredness.

When the feeling of nausea stops, take bland home made food, you can take crackers, bananas, toast, rice, and chicken in small amount. Take antacids or PPIs, one stat to help clear any developing gas or acidity. When you feel better you can take some more food. Take digestives and liver tonics, it will help you to recover faster. Keep yourself and your children well hydrated. Take water and fluids adequately.

As you start to recover, do not skip meals. To help reduce backpain, you can take Acetaminophen or Combiflam, one stat after food. Do not take it in empty stomach. Do not consume dairy, caffeine, and alcohol until complete recovery. Stay away from addictions if any. You should recover in 2-3 days. If not, then your symptoms can be due to other medical conditions like biliary colic, gall stones, kidney cyst/stones, appendicitis. Get clinically examined by a GP, get all required tests and investigations done, get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
