Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I slid down a flight of stairs and hit the back of my head at the last step. My neck hurts when i try to put my chin to my chest. Should i try and stretch it and work on range of motion or just keep it relaxed? At what point in time should i see a doctor?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Neck pain post injury could be due to muscle spasm. However, to rule out any injury to bones or soft tissues, kindly get X-ray of neck AP and Lateral view. You can take Tablet. Diclofenac, Paracetamol with Chloroxasone combination twice a day for 5 days after food. Also, locally you can apply pain reliever gel containing Diclofenac twice daily for 5 days. In case you find bony or soft tissue injury in X-ray, you need to consult Orthopedician for further evaluation and management. Otherwise, your symptoms should subside with above mentioned treatment. Hope the information provided would be helpful. Wish you all the best and speedy recovery.
