Suggest Treatment For Nerve Degeneration

Hello, I am 36 and since I was about 15 I have had tenderness in the outer right thigh. Through the years it has gotten worse so that now even a sheet cannot touch it. It is on the outside of my right leg. I had an emg that showed nerve degeneration but no one has told me a diagnosis they just throw narcotics at me. I was started on neurontin 300mg TID but doesn't really help. Any suggestions or ideas?
