Suggest Treatment For Nerve Itching On Feet Soles In Diabetics

I've been a type 2 diabetic for about a year and a half now. I experience very intense nerve itching on the soles of my feet and have spent a fortune trying various creams. In the end, I always have to wind up taking a metformin, which takes up to 20 minutes to releave the itch. I am very careful of my diet because I've had very embarrasing, public attacks and am so very tired of it. Can you recommend anything for me?
