Suggest Treatment For Nerve Pain In The Right Upper Leg

My right upper leg (back of thigh) doesn t seem to have the strength of my left leg. I have pain from the lower back to the top of my right outer knee and cannot step up on stairs without pain. It doesn t seem like a muscle; more like a nerve. It concerns me because it has been for quite some time now (months) and I walk and still do stairs, but it doesn t seem to strengthen the back part of my thigh. Any ideas?

Hello,

It seems you have Sciatic neuropathy. As pain radiation from lower back is in the gluteal region, back of the thigh and leg (L5 or S1 root distribution).

Weakness may involve all motions of the ankles and toes as well as flexion of the leg (hamstring muscles)at the knee.

Sciatic pain is often due to disc protrusion(sometimes as high as L2/3 interspace). However, many sciatic neuropathies are idiopathic. MRI lumbosacral spine would be justified.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
