It doesn t look it but it feels it to me.when I get this sinking sensation I have to Burry my head into a pillow to get rid of the sensation or open my eyes for awhile.can you help me with this. Iam 24 years old and a female. It s only been in the last couple of months I have been waking up with that werid tingling sensation. But the sinking feeling has been there since I was a young girl. Hi,

You seem to suffer from 2 different problems. First of all let me address the nightmares and tingling of legs. These are the most probable causes:
(1) anxiety,
(2) restless leg syndrome that occurs due to iron deficiency, severe kidney failure and sometimes in pregnancy.
(3) recent withdrawal or administration of antidepressants especially tricyclic antidepressant drugs.
(4) heavy and chronic alcohol intake.

These are the most feasible and helpful remedies for the above problem:(1) check your hemoglobin % and if less than 11%, please do go for iron supplementation at least for 6 months
(2) if you are suffering from anxiety and are on medication.

Please observe these: (a) regularly take the medications at same time every day. (b) never stop those medicines abruptly. (3) stress management with the help of the following would work its best
(a) exercise daily 60 min for at least 5 days a week
(b) yoga helps to replenish both physical and mental health.
(c) progressive muscle relaxation techniques also help a lot.
(d) spend your free time more with your family or in other words keep yourself free from electronic gadgets and be more communicative with your family members.
(e) Please do not watch any kind of movies or shows before going to bed.you can have warm milk before bed.

If you have kids at your home or in close neighbourhood, try playing with them such that your mind really gets relaxed. Coming to your old complaint of sinking in feeling, I feel you would get some improvement of this symptom too with the above instructions. If not, you can try a sleep therapist once.

Kindly let me know if the above therapy worked after checking yourself for at least 3 weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi,
