Suggest Treatment For Non Displaced Fibular Fracture In Ankle

Stepped in a pothole and rolled my ankle a few weeks ago. Pain persists so an X-ray today showed a non-displaced fibular fracture. I could not get in touch with the orthopedic surgeon before their office closed. What sort of treatment should I expect?

Dear thanks for the question.

Non displaced fracture of fibula is a common fracture after ankle injury even if injury was not severe. You will require a cast (pop) for two to three weeks. Duration will depend on progress in healing, to be observed by x ray. You can remain partially mobile too.

Nowadays instead of hard (pop) cast, some orthopaedicians are applying soft cast only. This will depend on degree of fracture. Discuss this with your doctor.

Till the time you visit orthopedic expert, apply crepe bandages to affected part, take rest, take painkillers if you have pain, eat healthy food. Take care in future.

I hope my reply will benefit you. Please write to hcm or me for follow up queries. Hit a thanks. I wish you rapid recovery. Thanks.
