Suggest Treatment For Numbness And Pain In The Leg

About 6 years ago l started to get some pain in the top half of my left leg on the outside, as the pain got worse it started to sting, went to the doctors he said it was shingles that had done the nerves in my leg but l did not have a rash , so how could he say that it was shingles, l still suffer with my leg it feels like it is numb and still get the sting in it, if l sit down and rub my leg it helps a little can it be shingles like my doctor said.ge

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have numbness and pain in the leg . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like sciatica , disc problem , neuropathy or peripheral neuropathy , side effects of medicine or nerve injury . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order nerve conduction test , CT scan or take history . Doctor may also order blood test to rule out shingles . Doctor may recommend physical therapy , prescribe multivitamin supplement to strengthen the nerve . Doctor may also recommend surgery for disc problem . Doctor may also refer you to general practitioner for shingles treatment with anti viral drug like acyclovir .
