Suggest Treatment For Numbness And Piercing Pain In Hands And Fingers

Over the last 4 days, I started having numbness and needle piercing feelings in both hands and all fingers and some cramping up the arms. I also have experienced loss of control of my bladder at the same time as the loss of sensory in my hands. I had the loss of sensory in just my left hand which led to fusion surgery on my C5-C6 and C7-C8 in 2012. I ve been diagnosed with DDD, Scoliosis, severe arthritis in my lower back and 100% Sciatic Nerve Damage bi-lateral.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Numbness and needle piercing feeling in both hands and fingers is suggestive of compression or irritation of the nerves supplying hands and fingers. These neurological symptoms can be due to fusion surgery done at C5-C6 and C7-C8 levels. I suggest you to consult your neurologist for clinical assessment and relevant investigations to find out the cause of these symptoms.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
