Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had been having numbness in my right arm for about three days. I started feeling awful and went home from work on that third day. I went to bed and didn t get up until 8pm and went back to bed an hour later. I slept through the night. I felt so bad and ached all over. My skin hurt and I couldn t stand to be touched. My neck and my head ached. The next day I couldn t turn my in either direction. Every thing started to finally ease up until just now my arm/hand is numb. My neck is starting to hurt. What is going on?
Usually, this is self-limiting and there is no specific cause but if this persists then various causes for arm numbness may persist like dehydration, diabetes, hypothyroidism, menopause, lack of B complex vitamins.
You may also have nerve compression problems which were suspected in your prior consultations which must have aggravated, however at what level it varies and needs clinical evaluation, with nerve conduction studies with or without MRI.
It is very common to get such types of numbness and pain in stress and in deep anxiety state, however, to be on safe side, you should consult a doctor and get your cardiac status checked along with other relevant investigations for the causes as mentioned above.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
