Suggest Treatment For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Hi, I got diagnosed with OCD at the age of 17. I am a 23 year old female. I have a lot of intrusive thoughts of a sexual nature and of saying doing inappropriate stuff and sometimes horrible aggressive things. I have recently started having an issue of looking at people inappropriately. I will be having a face to face conversation with someone and then I will think don t look at their cheast area and I will tell myself over and over not to look there but I focuse so hard on not looking there that I end up looking. I feel very ashamed and worried about this and it is causing me a lot of emotional problems. I am not even attracted to these people and I really don t think I get any sexual gratification from looking at these people in this way. I feel like I am a sick pervert and constantly need people to reassure me that I am not sick/ evil and that I am not going to hurt anyone or do anything bad. I am really concerned about this. So I was wondering could this be to do with my OCD or am I just a sick person? My other OCD symptoms have also been getting worse recently. Have you heard of anything like this before? And do you know why this could be happening ?

Obsessive compulsive disorder is a mental disorder with repeated unwanted thoughts or sensation called as obsession and constant urge to do the things called as compulsion. First line of management is Cognitive behavioural therapy. CBT is the expose the individual to certain conditions that provoke anxiety in them which results in obsession and compulsion which will be corrected by self by learning the mistakes with them.
Medication includes Selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors which act in the brain to control the repeated uncontrolled thoughts. If the condition is not improving, your doctor may add atypical antipsychotics. Neuro-modulation therapy is the alternative step. It is the procedure involving magnetic stimulation of the nerve cells transcranially to control the repetitive thoughts. Regular follow up with the psychiatrist is compulsory till the disorder gets improved.
