Suggest Treatment For Occasional Lower Abdominal Pain And Back Pain

I have a few symptoms...occasional pain on both sides of my lower abdomen, pinching feeling towards the tip of my penis, some lower back pain. I went to the doctor the other day and they tested my urine and he said there wasn t any kind of an infection. He told me to take CIPRO for 10 days. I am on my third full day of taking it. Doesn t seem to be getting any better.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Since the pain is on both sides of abdomen your Doctor might have though of infection in the colon called colitis.
The cause o colitis may not be an infection hence not responded well with Cipro.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get teh stool tests done.
Get blood CBC, sugar, kidney nd liver functions.
An ultrasonography of abdomen.
Tests of stool for 3 consecutive days.
These may give a proper diagnosis and help further management.
Sometimes you may need a Specialist's opinion like that of a Gastroenterologist, colonoscopy and CT scan of abdomen.
Tip of the penis pain can be non-specific or can occur in urethritis, cystitis, stone in urinary bladder and so on; Ultrasonography helps a lot.
Backache can be independent o the other symptoms or may be related and clinical evaluation can help a lot.
Take symptomatic antispasmodic, a painkiller for backache.
Rest of the treatment should be specific.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, General Surgeon
