Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
I would suggest that you should take specific treatment for your acne rather than trying to cure them with mud packs and other
home remedies as it might leave your skin even more damaged and acne prone.
You seem to have inflammatory acne as you say that they are painful.
Treatment of acne is guided by the severity of acne.
Oral antibiotics e.g either Doxycycline, Azithroumycin Or
Minocycline may be started in ase o inflammatory acne.
Specific topical therapy for acne includes Topical antibacterials like
clindamycin, Topical
benzoyl peroxide and Topical retinoids like Adapalene gel.
I usually ask my patients to use either Benzoyl peroxide or clindamycin as a spot treatment for inflammatory acne during day time.
Topical retinoids are for night time application. Retinoids are first line treatment in all grades of acne; they are comedolytic and therefore also prevent new acne formation.
Retinoids should be applied to the whole affected area once daily at night.
Cleansing should be gentle and not harsh. You may use a gentle cleanser like cetaphil cleansing lotion rather than soaps.
These are all prescription products. I would suggest that you visit a
dermatologist in your region. Your dermatologist will assess the severity of your acne and advice accordingly.
Chemical peeling is an option along with topical and oral treatment;
salicylic acid peel is good for acne. You can discuss in more details about it with your dermatologist.
