Suggest Treatment For On And Off Vaginal Bleeding

I have had small amounts of vaginal bleeding off and on for over a year. My primary care provider sent me for a pelvic ultra sound fall of 2016 and he said it was a very small fibroid. I still continue to have small amounts of vaginal bleeding off and on. I don t want to be an to make a mountain out of a mole hill but should I go back to see my primary care provider. I live in Alberta Canada where it is not easy to see an OB/GYN unless there is a real problem. My mother died of metastatic breast cancer 13 years ago.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If you are post menopausal (had a year of no bleeding before this started) , then a biopsy should be considered to make sure that there are no changes to the endometrium (internal lining of the uterus.

Other than this, there are blood tests that can be done to make sure that there are no changes to certain hormones that can cause bleeding.

If you are not post menopausal then it not likely that the biopsy would be needed but you can still have the bloods done to rule out abnormal hormone causes.

I hope this helps
