Suggest Treatment For Oozing Pus And Blood From Nail

I injured my big toe last April. I went to my dr and he cut the toe nail that that was loose. It was oozing at that time some. It took over a year fort toe nail to grow out again. I noticed last week that the nail was loose again on the one side, so I clipped it down again. Now my toe is oozing pussy bloody liquid...and at the top of my toe near the nail bed is it s red. Should I get an anti fungal treatment or go to my foot dr ? And I am a diabetic.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history you are having paronychia. My treatment advice is:
• Don't apply soap or any antiseptic lotion like Dettol on that part.
• Wear loose footwear.
• As a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
• As you are diabetic it is better to start oral antibiotic like Levofloxacin only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech.
