Suggest Treatment For Optic Nerve Atrophy

My sister has a seven year old boy. The teacher sent him home with a notice that he may need glasses. The eye doctor said that his son has optic nerve atrophy in the left eye. And there is no cure, is this true? How my sister did not notice that he could not see from one eye. This makes no sense,

Optic nerve atrophy is neuron disease... These are comes with in born... You have to consult with good ophthalmologist... And this disease have no treatment
