Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife 66, was having tinnitus in left ear since last few months. Later it subsided but occasional otalgia developed. At the same time, a problem in fixed denture on left lower premolar/molar put a confusing picture about the cause. However, denture removed but the otalgia remained as it is. Consulted an MS (ENT). who after PTA, Tympanometry & radiological exploration decided that it is probably due to some elongation in the left styloid process. Advised to take a) Choriminic tab morning/afternoon, Dompra in mornig empty stomach & Otrinoz in both nostrils in head tilted condition so that medicine moves through the eustachian tube . Situation improved a bit with occasional pain at a lesser degree. Is operation the only solution? How risky it is ?

Suggest Treatment For Otalgia
Hello, It may be due to otitis externa. For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen. Along with that gentle application of heating pads will also help. Avoid ear piercing. In case of fever, ear discharge you may require antibiotics ear drops after ENT consultation. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
