Suggest Treatment For Pain And Discomfort In Toe After Stomping
I have a history of paroxysmal A fib .When diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago it persisted for 1 day. Since then there has been no documented recurrence although I feel like I potentially get rare short a fib episodes. My question is today I was stomping hard with on my right foot when I was getting frustrated. About two hours later I noticed my toe next to the small right toe was painful....not terribly so...but it was uncomfortable. It was reddish in coloration immediately underneath the toenail and not bluish.....not cold to touch and easily moveable although it is slightly painful to move it.......Pain/discomfort has been stable times several hours. Also it is tender to touch under the toenail where it is red. Could this be due to an emboli or does the reddish as opposed to bluish color strongly suggest otherwise......It could be due to the stomping of my foot......but why was the discomfort only in this one toe....and also I don t remember any pain when I stomped my foot. That is what concerned me....The pain was not sudden....
Since you have hurt your toe due to stomping, you should first clean it, apply cool pack or ice to numb the pain and reduce the swelling. Do not unnecessarily strain by walking, give it rest. Keep it elevated on a stool while sitting or a pillow when on bed so that you don't hurt it further and swelling gets reduced. You can take NSAIDS, Combiflam or Naproxen, one SOS when pain. Never take medicines in empty stomach.
You should apply a thick layer of Thrombophob ointment all around the wound to prevent and reduce any clotting of blood. In case discomfort increases, get an X-ray done to rule out any fracture. In case of hair crack fractures you may need to get it bandaged by your treating doctor. Give it rest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
