Hi,

It is important to seek medical attention after a dog bite, especially if there is pain and restricted movement in the affected area. You should see a healthcare provider or go to an urgent care or emergency room as soon as possible. X-rays may be ordered to rule out any fractures or other injuries. Additionally, you may be prescribed antibiotics to prevent any potential infection. Pain management strategies such as ice, rest, and elevation may also be recommended.

In some cases, a tetanus shot may also be necessary, especially if the wound is deep or contaminated. It is important to keep the wound clean and dry and watch for any signs of infection such as redness, swelling, warmth, or drainage. If the pain and restricted movement persist or worsen, it is important to follow up with your healthcare provider for further evaluation and treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
