Suggest Treatment For Pain And Sleeplessness Caused Due To Tonsillitis Or Strep Throat

I have tonsillitis/strep throat and after 4 days of antibiotics 8 a day I am still in so much pain and haven t slept more than 6 hours in total over three nights. I ve taken so much to try and help, nurofen/paracetamol/cold and flu tablets (I also have the flu) If I go to a GP will they prescribe me sleeping tablets? I just need sleep so badly

Hi,

Strep throat when diagnosed by throat swab test. Needs a long antibiotic treatment for recovery. It's necessary to take the full prescribed antibiotic course.

The sleeplessness is mainly due to pain; which needs anti-inflammatory drugs like acetaminophen/Ibuprofen along with self-care like hot saline gargles, avoiding oily, spicy froze or sour things.

Drinking warm water in plenty. Sucking cough lozenges. Sleeping pill can be prescribed if it suits you (like a sense of breathing trouble & others). Let your doctor decide it.

Failure of relief may need the addition of stronger antibiotic or steroids by your treating doctor.
