General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for contacting HCM.
As per your history the possibilities are
1.Sprain
2.Deep vein thrombosis(DVT)
3.Cellulitis
4.Insect bite

Sprain is usually caused by fall or sports injury,Since you have mentioned there was no apparent injury, the likelihood of sprain is less.
DVT is a condition in which the blood in the deep veins of leg clots and cause the problems.A recent history of prolonged travel increases the odds.
Cellulitis also have the same picture, but normal blood test decreases the chance.
Insect bite reaction also have similar symptoms.
You must consult a physician to rule out DVT as its little bit serious among the differentials and may require a doppler ultrasound.
Hope I have addressed your query.
Thank you
