Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In The Eye

My husband was in the hospital for four days with what was diagnosed as a bacterial infection that spread around the eye, swelling the eye, and moving up over the left hand side of the head. This hospital gave him intravenous antibiotics. After a week of antibiotics at home, he still complained about his eye. He was referred by a Dermatologist to his eye doctor. The eye doctor and his fellow doctor diagnosed it as shingles and gave him an antiviral medicine and eye drops. The scabs on his head are better and his eye is looking better but now he has severe attacks of pain that come on suddenly. A cool cloth calms them down. How long will this go on. This all began the 13th of July.
