Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In The Left Knee

I have been having some pain in my left knee, along with some swelling. There is no pain when I am standing/sitting still. Recently I have noticed more pain in other joints (right elbow, left wrist). I also have some numbness in some of my finger tips. Initially I assumed it was early signs of arthritis, but now I m thinking it may be better to check with a local doctor.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain and swelling in the left knee . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like Chondromalacia, Bursitis, gout , Arthritis, Osteochondritis, bakers cyst or infection . For now take proper rest , keep your leg elevated while laying down , take ibuprofen or acetaminopehn for pain and lower your salt consumption. I would suggest you to consult an Orthopedician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like x ray, CT Scan , blood tests and physical examination etc as per suspected cause can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.Doctor may prescribe anti-inflammatory painkillers, muscle relaxants, physiotherapy to relieve and strengthen the muscles, weight loss and doctor may also prescribe nerve supplement along with antibiotics in case of infection or surgical excision in case of cyst . Doctor may also refer you to nephrologist in case of kidney failure .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
