Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In Tibia Bone

I had a large plate and several screws removed from my tibia 18 days ago. Having initially been weight bearing and very happy I am now suffering swelling, bruising, tightness and pain that makes me cry and unable to be upright for any length of time. Where pe-op I was numb all around the plate or hypersensitive it now feels like a scab does - tight & prickly. I have no fever but am having to take strong analgesic medication.

Is this normal and how much longer could this go on - I am worried about my job?
