Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling Of Ankle Due To Bruised Bone

I m not exactly sure how long but I d say about 2 or possibly 3 weeks ago someone cleated me in the ankle. My cleat came off and I kicked the back with the side of my foot not knowing until pain rushed it. I brushed it off and continued. Since then it hurts to bend it backwards, my ankle also is swollen with the bone bruised. People also have been kicking my in the ankle that is swollen. Should I do something? Obviously my team in soccer needs me and didn t think it was that serious.

Hi,

It sounds like you have sustained a significant injury to your ankle, which could require medical attention. A bruised bone, also known as a bone contusion, can cause pain and swelling in the affected area. If left untreated, it can take several weeks to heal, and could even lead to further complications.

It is recommended that you see a doctor or a specialist for an evaluation of your ankle. They may suggest imaging tests, such as an X-ray or MRI, to determine the extent of the injury. Based on the severity of the injury, they may recommend treatments such as:
* Resting the affected ankle: Avoid activities that cause pain or put pressure on the ankle. You may need to use crutches or a brace to support your ankle while it heals.
* Ice therapy: Applying ice to the ankle for 20 minutes at a time, several times a day, can help reduce pain and swelling.
* Elevating the affected ankle: Keeping the ankle elevated above the heart level can also help reduce swelling and promote healing.
* Pain medication: Over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, may be recommended to help manage pain and inflammation.
* Physical therapy: In some cases, your doctor may recommend physical therapy to help restore strength and mobility to your ankle.
* Surgery: In rare cases, surgery may be necessary to repair the damaged bone or tissue in the ankle.

It is important to take care of your injury to avoid further complications, such as chronic pain or instability in the ankle joint. You should also avoid playing soccer or any other physical activity that could worsen the injury until you have fully recovered.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
