Suggest Treatment For Pain Around Ankles

I have a plaster splint on my right foot for a crush injury. It s causing quite a bit of pain around my ankle which is not broke. I want to cut the stuffing to modify around the ankle so that it s not hurting and the rewrap it back with the bandages until I see my dr on Thursday. Would this be ok?

Hi,

Noted your short history about splint around ankle that is causing pain.
Yes, surely you should get it rearranged to avoid additional injury to the already ailing area.
I am not sure whether you can do it yourself.
Try and if there is any difficulty then you should consult your Doctor, param, medic specialized in such cases and get this corrected properly.
Wrong application can cause more harm.
Also keep the foot and leg elevated above the heart levels to keep the edema to minimum and this helps directly for pain and healing.
Take medications like antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and other medications properly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
